Military Service - 4 Jul 1862, Dalton, Georgia. Conrad enlisted at Dalton, Georgia 3 Jul 1862 as a Private in Morris Co., Infantry Battalion of Smith's Legion, Georgia Volunteers. This unit later became Company B of the 65th Reg. Georgia Infantry in which he became a Sergent 1 Apr 1864. He was wounded in the leg near New Hope Church (near Dallas, Georgia) on 28 May 1864. He went home and was on his way back to his unit when Lee surrendered. He was discharged 11 Sep 1865 at Morganton, Georgia.
